- Blocks angiotensin II — vasodilation and reduced blood pressure
- Renal protection in diabetes and heart failure
- Hyperkalemia; contraindicated in pregnancy

- Azilsartan — Potent, long-acting ARB for hypertension; often lowers pressure more than older sartans.
- Candesartan — ARB antihypertensive; also used for migraine prevention.
- Eprosartan — ARB antihypertensive.
- EXP3174 (E-3174) — Losartan's major active metabolite; a more potent, insurmountable AT1 antagonist (CYP2C9/3A4).
- Irbesartan — ARB antihypertensive with renal-protective data.
- Losartan — The first ARB; also lowers uric acid.
- Olmesartan — ARB antihypertensive; rare sprue-like enteropathy.
