Gepirone is converted to 1-PP by CYP3A4.
The pair
- Gepirone — Selective 5-HT1A partial-agonist antidepressant; minimal sexual dysfunction but modest efficacy.
- 1-PP — Buspirone metabolite; alpha-2 antagonism that adds noradrenergic activation the parent does not have.
Anything that inhibits or induces CYP3A4 shifts the balance between Gepirone and 1-PP.
