Why this oneIts extended-release-only formulation gives smooth pressure control but little practical advantage over amlodipine.
What limits itPeripheral edema and reflex tachycardia can limit use; grapefruit markedly raises exposure through intestinal CYP3A4 inhibition.

Instructions
- Swallow whole; do not crush or chew
- Take without food or with a light meal
- Elderly: start at the low end (2.5 mg QD) and monitor blood pressure closely
Cautions
- Peripheral edema — dose-related and age-related; markedly increased at doses >10 mg/day
- Elderly and hepatic impairment develop higher plasma concentrations — start low and monitor
