Why this oneUnlike ampicillin, reliable oral absorption plus pneumococcal activity makes it a first-line outpatient respiratory antibiotic.
What limits itBeta-lactamase producers escape it — that is what clavulanate is for. An EBV-associated rash does not by itself prove penicillin allergy.
