Precursor to metabolite: Amoxapine to 8-OH-Amoxapine
Amoxapine is converted to 8-OH-Amoxapine by CYP2D6.
The pair
- Amoxapine — TCA with D2 antagonism; can cause extrapyramidal effects.
- 8-OH-Amoxapine — Amoxapine metabolite carrying the parent’s antihistamine and reuptake activity, and its QT signal.
Anything that inhibits or induces CYP2D6 shifts the balance between Amoxapine and 8-OH-Amoxapine.
