Instructions
- Instill once daily in the evening; do not exceed once-daily dosing
- If using other topical ophthalmics, administer at least 5 minutes apart
- Remove contact lenses before instillation; reinsert 15 minutes after
Cautions
- Permanent increased iris pigmentation; periorbital and eyelash pigmentation changes
- Gradual eyelash changes (length, thickness, number)
- May exacerbate active intraocular inflammation (e.g., uveitis)
- Macular edema, including cystoid; caution in aphakic/pseudophakic patients with torn posterior capsule
- Not evaluated for angle-closure, inflammatory, or neovascular glaucoma
- Bacterial keratitis with contaminated multidose containers
Adverse reactions
- Conjunctival/ocular hyperemia (30–50%)
- Decreased visual acuity
- Eye discomfort
- Foreign body sensation
- Eye pain
- Pruritus
Pregnancy No adequate human studies; animal embryo-fetal lethality, abortion, and premature delivery at clinically relevant doses; use only if benefit justifies risk
Lactation Unknown if present in human milk; excreted in rat milk
