(OATP inhibitor)
What it isA common citrus beverage; ordinary sweet orange juice, unlike grapefruit juice, is not a clinically meaningful intestinal CYP3A4 inhibitor.
Why this oneIt inhibits intestinal OATP uptake transporters (e.g., OATP2B1), reducing the absorption of drugs that depend on those transporters.
What limits itOrange juice can lower plasma levels of fexofenadine, celiprolol, and atenolol; note that bitter/Seville orange juice, by contrast, does inhibit intestinal CYP3A4 like grapefruit.
