from clopidogrel
What it isThe thiol metabolite of clopidogrel, an irreversible P2Y12 antagonist.
Why it mattersIt is the species that blocks platelets — clopidogrel itself is entirely inactive.
What it changes⛑ CYP2C19 makes it, so poor metabolizers and omeprazole blunt the antiplatelet effect. Irreversible: platelet function returns only as new platelets form.
