Acute agitation
- First ensure safety + identify the cause
- Verbal de-escalation before drug if possible
- Psychosis/mania → antipsychotic often preferred
- Alcohol withdrawal → benzodiazepine
- Stimulant intoxication → benzodiazepine often first
- IM route if unsafe/unable to take oral drug
