Calcium-dependent bacterial membrane depolarizer
- Gram-positive membrane insertion → rapid depolarization
- Depolarization is calcium-dependent
- Bactericidal, concentration-dependent
- Inactivated by lung surfactant — never used for pneumonia
- Myopathy → monitor CK

- Daptomycin — Lipopeptide that depolarizes gram-positive membranes; inactivated by surfactant, so never for pneumonia.
