- Promotes sleep pressure
- Slows sinus rate and AV (atrioventricular) conduction → terminates SVT
- negative inotropy (↓ contractility)
- Adenosine approved for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT)
- rapid IV bolus → transient AV-node block / brief asystole → terminates reentry
- Reduces glomerular filtration
- Anticonvulsant effect
- Inhibits lipolysis
- Antinociceptive effects
